Live from the Peppermint lounge

It's been a year since Michael Jackson died but don't worry this isn't another 'OMG - he Was the King of POP!' outpouring.
I've been thinking about one of my all time heroes: Lux Interior of The Cramps who died around the same time. When i looked up the date that he died i was shocked to find that it was actually well over a year ago that he died.(4th February 2009 to be exact)

In my opinion Lux was one of the greatest frontmen ever. When i was younger i would have said maybe Ian Astbury of the Cult or John Lydon were in my top 5 list of frontmen but they only really grasped it for a fleeting moment. Lux hit the mark square on for over 30 years.

The last time i saw The Cramps there was a rumour that they were playing their unofficial retirement tour. Sadly fate made that a reality. It was the best gig i ever saw them do.
Lux was also a bit of an artist. He created the much of the artwork for The Cramps releases (most of them based on pictures of his gorgeous wife, Ivy) and managed to develop a visual shorthand of what you could expect to find within each cover.
The cover of 'Smell of Female' is one of my all time favourite covers. The first time i saw that cover i knew exactly what the album would sound like.
At this very moment my copy of it is being displayed on the book case in our living room.

Lux- i miss ya but your legacy lives on.
